Steak Mtn solo exhibit opens this week in Chicago…

THE MOST EXPLOSIVE PICTURE OF THE YEAR!, a solo exhibition of new drawings by Steak Mtn., is coming to The Threadless Gallery in Chicago from April 4th to April 29th, with an opening party on the 4th from 7pm to 9pm. Familial to the show will be the premiere of Steak Mtn.'s DECAPITATED DOOMSDAY, a long-time-coming top secret SUPER limited edition Threadless Select shirt dipped in the delight of ridiculous design.

For THE MOST EXPLOSIVE PICTURE OF THE YEAR!, Steak Mtn. is hanging three different phases of his work. The first section will be dedicated to showcasing the hundreds of xeroxed voodoo, doodles on tracing paper and full scale ink illustrations that have been utilized for some of the punk & noise records he has designed and illustrated over the past ten years. The second section will be images from a small series of color studies that rely on text and inky illustration to create disparate & seamy narratives. The third section will be the debut of his very recent pencil drawings, a series structured on transgressive statements, haunted house imagery & thick seeming minimalism.

Steak Mtn. will be on hand for the opening with a limited three color serigraph created specifically for EXPLOSIVE. If you can't make it to see the show, all of the work (minus the Scrapbook Wall of Death) is online at http://www.steakmtn.com/explosive.

Thanks!

Our show in Calgary, AB this Saturday (Mar 29)…

This Saturday, March 29th we are playing a show in Calgary, AB. The show is being presented by X92, and is exclusive to radio contest winners only.

We were not originally told that the show was exclusive to radio contest winners when we agreed to play. Because of this we tried to accommodate some fans wanting to see the show who have been unable to win tickets, by putting them on our guest list.

However, we recently found out that the show is 18+ only, another detail we were unaware of when we agreed to the show and a detail we were unaware of when telling people that they would be on our guest list for the show. If you were told by us that tickets will be waiting for you at the door, please take note of this, since if you are under 18 you will not be allowed into the show.

We sincerely apologize; we think the whole thing is just as lame as you do. We will gladly give those of you who are on our list but who get turned away due to being under 18 tickets to our next performance in the area.

Again, our apologies.
